Your account package

What you receive and how handover works

Understand what arrives with your account, what each item lets you do, and the security changes you make after delivery.

Your purchase includes Steam login details, access to the original email mailbox, and Steam Guard authentication material. Together, these let you manage routine sign-in, supported confirmations, and the supplied inbox yourself.

What this lets you do

Manage the access you use every day

Sign in with Steam Guard

Use the supplied login details and active authentication material to generate a Steam Guard code in compatible software when sign-in requires one.

Handle supported confirmations

Manage trade and Community Market listing confirmations through compatible software signed in to the account. You do not need to ask us to approve each supported action.

Manage the supplied mailbox

Open Steam messages in the original inbox, inspect its registration correspondence, and set up your own mailbox password, recovery methods, and two-factor authentication.

Included with your purchase

Your credentials and what each one does

Open your purchased account in the dashboard to view the delivered details and download its maFile. Treat every credential and downloaded file as private.

Steam login and password
The account credentials you use to sign in to Steam. Follow any additional verification Steam requests.
Original email and mailbox password
Access to the Gmail or Outlook mailbox used when we registered the Steam account. We do not replace that email before sale.
Steam Guard login secret shared_secret
The material compatible software uses to generate the account's Steam Guard login codes. It does not replace the Steam login and password.
Confirmation secret identity_secret
Used by compatible software with a valid account session to handle supported trade and Market confirmations. It is not permission to approve every Steam security change.
Authenticator recovery code revocation_code
Recovery material for the applicable authenticator recovery or removal process. Steam's checks and any resulting restrictions still apply.
Downloadable maFile
An export of the supplied authentication data. Our team has tested its use with Steam Desktop Authenticator (SDA) after successfully signing in. A download alone is not a signed-in session.

The account tier describes its preparation and elapsed time. Account age, Steam Guard age, and current trading or Market eligibility are separate. Check the tier details for what you are buying.

A record you can inspect

Check the original registration mailbox

We supply the first email mailbox used to register the account, with its Steam registration correspondence retained. You can inspect those messages directly in the inbox.

  1. Sign in to the supplied mailbox. Use Gmail or Outlook directly with the delivered email address and mailbox password.
  2. Find the Steam registration correspondence. Read the original message, its recipient and date, and any account name included. Match account-identifying details to the Steam account you received.
  3. Compare the current contact email. Check Steam Account Details before you make changes. If the mailbox or account details do not match what was delivered, contact us with your order reference.

Steam verifies email during registration or first purchase. Registration correspondence helps you inspect the history; a generic verification message alone does not establish every later email change or guarantee a recovery outcome. Valve's email verification explanation.

After delivery

We provide the package. You make it ready for your use.

We supply the advertised credentials, authentication material, and mailbox access. You are responsible for completing your own password, recovery, and two-factor changes after delivery.

  1. Check access and save the supplied details privately

Confirm the Steam login and mailbox relate to the account you purchased. Save the authentication material somewhere you control. Do not post passwords, maFiles, or recovery codes in public messages or upload them to unknown tools.

  2. Set up the mailbox with your own security methods

Change its password, add and verify your own recovery methods, and set up the provider's available two-factor protection. Review existing sign-in methods and sessions. Confirm your new method works before removing the supplied one.

  3. Use the recovery guide where it is available

If your dashboard shows Transfer recovery email, open that account's guide. Company-address Microsoft codes appear in the guide's code panel; a code verifying your personal recovery email arrives in your own inbox. You request and enter the codes in Microsoft, and check its final settings yourself.

  4. Update Steam security and choose your authenticator setup

Change the Steam password through its account settings. Review authorized devices and follow Steam's supported process if moving or replacing the authenticator. A password change and an authenticator change are separate actions. See our Steam Guard phone-transfer guide before proceeding.

  5. Check the actual result

Confirm that your chosen sign-in and recovery methods work. Keep any new recovery information privately. If a provider shows a pending change or Steam shows a restriction, follow that message; receiving the package does not mean every provider-side change is already complete.

Before you choose

Common handover questions

Are maFiles and secrets useful only for trading?

No. The login secret supports Steam Guard code generation for sign-in. The confirmation secret supports trade and Market listing confirmations in compatible, authenticated software. Mailbox credentials give you access to the associated inbox. These are distinct functions, each with its own requirements.

Does the maFile work with SDA or the official Steam app?

Our team has tested the delivered export with SDA after a successful login. You need to sign in; importing a file alone does not establish a working session. We do not claim that every third-party client accepts the same export.

SDA's original project is no longer maintained. Its test result describes compatibility, not an endorsement of its current security. The official Steam Mobile app uses Valve's own transfer process; we do not advertise direct maFile import into it.

Does changing the password replace the authenticator?

Do not assume it does. Passwords, active sessions, authentication secrets, and mailbox recovery methods are separate. To move or replace Steam Guard, follow the appropriate Steam process and check the resulting account state. Valve currently describes a two-day trade and Market restriction after transfer and 15 days after removal.

Valve's Steam Guard FAQ

What happens to the account when it is uploaded and sold?

Resolved account entries are removed from the uploader's input file; unresolved entries remain for retry. When an account is sold, it is removed from the available inventory. Your purchased details remain available in your buyer dashboard. Removal from available stock is not a claim that every historical copy has been erased.

What if a delivered login or mailbox does not work?

Contact BuySteamAccounts support through the site's chat with your order reference and the error you see. Keep passwords, authentication secrets, recovery codes, and maFiles out of your initial message. Do not mark a recovery transfer complete until you have checked the provider's settings.

Steam's rules still apply

Valve does not permit buying or selling Steam accounts and says an account can be permanently locked when a sale is identified. Delivering credentials and recovery material does not remove that risk or guarantee recognition of ownership.
